School

In Myanmar, school is free and open to all children, regardless of ethnicity or religion. It is composed of 11 “grades.”

Grade 1 to 5: elementary school. Children go from 5 to 9 years old. From grade 6 to 8 classes: the “post-elementary” school. Kids go from 10 to 12 years old. Grade 9: middle school, for children aged 13. From grade 10 to 11: the “high school,” which welcomes children, aged 14 and 15 years. The end of high school is sanctioned by “matriculation,” examination allowing access to the university or institutes.

Housing

In recent few years, the accommodation charges get decreased in Myanmar. It gets done due to the improvement in infrastructure and increment in tourism level. In the past few years, the accommodation was not so comfortable and was a massive shortage over the whole country. Most of hostels and houses charge in US dollar, but in Kyat it looks too cheaper.

It is forbidden for tourists in Myanmar to drive a car or motorbike (which get banned in Rangoon). To get around, you will need the services of a driver or use public transport.

Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) places the Burmese health system among the most defective in the world. Thus, it is strongly recommended to visit neighboring countries for any critical intervention.

For any accident or health problem, it is strongly recommended to go to the hospitals of Rangoon, Mandalay or Naypyidaw. Hospitals in other cities are unreliable. In Yangon, you will find two international clinics: the Samitivej International Clinic and the SOS International Clinic.

Make sure to take out insurance to cover your medical expenses and repatriation if necessary. It may prove particularly useful in Myanmar.

Visa

All tourists who want to travel to Myanmar process the same type of visa, there is no difference between nationalities. This visa will only last 28 days and is not extendable. The permit can get processed at any embassy or consulate in Myanmar or recently online.

Requirements to process your visa for Myanmar in Bangkok

Passport with six months minimum seniority. Remember that it refers to the months before it expires. Submit two photocopies of the passport. 2 passport-size photos. Fill in documents

Once these steps get done, you will only have to pay the visa taxes. These taxes will depend on the time you want to have the processing done

Myanmar has the peculiarity that it does not allow any visa extension. What it will enable is to be able to overstay (spend days of the visa) a maximum of 14 days. Each day more has a cost of 3 USD plus another 3 USD for management fees. This way is perfect for those who want to spend a few more days in the country. The payment of this overstay is made in the immigration offices when leaving the country, either at the land border or airport.

License:

To get a permit in the Myanmar one can apply at the Department for Road Transport and Administration in Yangon as you cannot use your country license in Myanmar.

Bank account:

To open the account bank account in KBZ, CB Bank, Aya or MAB bank you only require a passport and minimal paperwork.  There is a commission for withdrawing money from ATMs and a limit per operation. So you cannot freely use the ATM. Also, Open account is an easy task in the Myanmar and is process get completed within 1 or 2 days.
